Definitely not your Mother's jeans either, the aptly-named Not Your Daughter's Jeans was developed by Puerto Rican-born Lisa Rides-Sandel, who says she "didn't want my underwear to show every time I bent over." Together with her sister, Leslie, Not Your Daughter's Jeans was born in 2003 with Tummy Tuck, a built-in criss-cross panel designed to flatten a woman's stomach without using any material other than denim.
Not Your Daughter's Jeans are made with 4 per cent Lycra for the ultimate in stretch and mobility, but the real secret lies in the patented denim weaving, which contours the hips, constrains the stretch in the front and also gives a lift in the back. The fit remains comfortable and the end result is nothing short of fabulous. Santa Ana, California-based, Svoboda (svoh-bow-da), is the brainchild of Jessica Svoboda, founder and visionary of the label's cutting-edge designs. Frustrated by the lack of stylish full-figured fashions, she left a promising advertising career with the mission to create hip clothing options for curvaceous women like herself. Following her passion to improve the plus size industry, Jessica earned her associates degree in apparel manufacturing from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, and quickly began creating fresh styles designed to flatter curves.
All Svoboda denim is curve-hugging and fits tighter where it counts. By incorporating a European fit, the styles are lower in the front and higher in the back, to fit generously across the tush. Svoboda waistbands are thicker and higher, to minimize gaping at the waist and offer extra stability for the tummy.
